UPDATE:
Julie and Julia is playing at 1:10 on Friday August 7 at the Century 16 Theaters on 3300 South and State. You're invited to come and see the movie with us and then meet back at my house after for pot-luck snacks and a lot of good dishing about the movie. (I'll be writing a piece for BlogHer.com about how food bloggers like the movie, so you might also get a chance to get some exposure for your blog.)
Please e-mail me at kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net if you can come and I'll write back and give you my home address. People can come to my house and drop off food before the show if you'd like, or just meet us at the theater about 12:45.

Hi fellow Utah food bloggers,
I'm going to be organizing a get-together for Utah food bloggers for the opening day of Julie and Julia, the first movie about a food blogger! It's scheduled to open on August 7 nationwide. (Although I haven't been able to get confirmation that it will open in Utah on that day, I believe that it will.)
We are talking about going to the movie about 1:00 (or whatever time ends up being closest to that) and then coming to my house for a mid-afternoon pot-luck so we can all talk about the movie. I live in Sugarhouse; we're planning to go to the movie at Century 16 if it's playing there. All Utah food bloggers are invited; however because there are quite a few food bloggers we can't include friends or family members.
More details to come when I can find out exactly where and when the movie is going to be playing. For now, save that day and check back for more information.
If anyone sees confirmation of the movie date and time in Utah, please e-mail me (kalynskitchen AT comcast DOT net.) The theater tells me they won't know until Monday of that week whether the movie will open there on August 7, but I have signed up for a "fan alert" so I should be notified as soon as the information is available.
Kalyn from Kalyn's Kitchen
I'm looking forward to it, Kalyn! Just tell me what I can bring.
ReplyDeleteCount me in! Thanks for organizing this!
ReplyDeleteCount me in, too!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could... maybe for the next event!
ReplyDeleteOh man, another get together that I will be missing, I hope to catch one! This movie looks fun I hope it is better than the book, I tried to read it but the language was foul and and awful so I couldn't finsh the book. Have fun ladies.
ReplyDeleteI would love to, but I will be arriving to Utah that day after driving cross country - with my mom and a car full of stuff. But, rest assured (now that I will be living in Sandy), I am in for the next one. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow! I am excited for this and excited to meet some fellow food bloggers!
ReplyDeleteKalyn - please let me know if I can help in any way!

Ooooh yes, are we going to sneak in treats?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad there are quite a few people who can come! I hear the movie will make you hungry, so treats may be in order.
ReplyDeleteI'll report back as soon as I hear about the official time. People can drop food off at my house before the show if they want, or you can bring your things and cook at my house. Should be fun!
Shall I bring a recipe from Mastering the Art of French Cooking?
ReplyDeletePerhaps Calf's Brain en Croute?
;) Yum!
I so would love to go and watch this with my fellow foodies, but I'm gonna be on vacation that day. Darn! Oh well I guess a vacation is a good excuse. I can't wait to see this movie, plus Julie has the same last name as me! :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be so fun!! I am pretty sure I could make it, I just need to find a sitter. I'm excited!!
ReplyDeleteI think I left a comment on all the blog that said they could come (plus a few people I know) but there are too many hive members for me to invite everyone personally. Please feel free to invite other Utah food bloggers!
ReplyDeleteI'm just trying to confirm a sitter, but I'm planning on it! This will be so fun! Can I bring cupcakes?!
ReplyDeleteI am so sad I couldn't make it to the show with you all. I did see it twice and would again in a heart beat. I made my first poached egg last week and it was wonderful. I of course went right out and bought The Art of French Cooking. I love it. Julia did such a great job at writing it.
